Public procurement of innovation, PPI

Public procurement of innovation (PPI) is the process in which public buyers can influence the market towards developing innovative solutions. The sessions will explore different aspects of PPI based on cases from Denmark and with an international perspective. PPI occurs when public authorities act as a launch customer for innovative goods or services, which are not yet available on a large-scale. Pre-commercial procurement (PCP) is an approach within the public procurement of innovation, developed specifically for the procurement of R&D services rather than actual goods and services. PPI attracts attention from both public authorities and private suppliers across Europe aiming for better and more innovative solutions and services as well as economic growth.
